Cynthia Lickers-Sage, a Mohawk artist from Six Nations is a leader in Native arts administration, and most recognized for founding the Centre for Aboriginal Media and its internationally-acclaimed imagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival. Ms. Lickers-Sage has extensive experience in arts administration, festival production, and passion for the cultural sector. She has spent most of the last decade working in, and for, the arts. Lickers-Sage recently served as the Producer for the Department of Canadian Heritage’s TradeRoutes Event. She has also served on a variety of volunteer boards and arts service organizations, including Toronto Arts Council, Aboriginal Peoples Television Network and Cultural Careers Council of Ontario. Ms. Lickers-Sage, currently mentors numerous Aboriginal Arts Organizations through The Canada Council for the Arts Flying Eagle program. From 1994 – 2003 she served as the Aboriginal Outreach Coordinator at V Tape, Canada’s largest independent video distribution organization.
As a media artist, her work has been featured in shows in Canada and abroad, and she has curated numerous media art exhibitions. One such exhibit included an installation by Cynthia Lickers-Sage featured in REDz on Screen2. Her installation focused on the theme ‘Aboriginal artists, is it the person within, or the colour of their skin’? shown at Kelowna Art Gallery, Kelowna, B.C. 2007
The event will start at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 32 Idylewylde St. Fort Erie

The evening will feature Ojibway Storyteller, Aaron Bell, “Gonrah Desgohwah” The White Pine Dancers, an Award Winning Dance Troupe. Also performing will be April Doxtator, a young contemporary/traditional dancer from the Oneida of the Thames. She will be performing solo from her work in progress-“generational roots”. Rounding out the evening will be performances by local emerging native women’s singing group Maajii Maadzi, whose Ojibway name means “starting, beginning, anew and to be alive” as well as the Youth Dance Troupe of the FENFC.
N.C.N.W. is a Not-For-Profit, Registered Charity that has addressed key issues that affect urban native women and families in Fort Erie and Greater Niagara Region. The chapter is owned and operated by urban aboriginal women and functions with a volunteer Board of Directors elected from the membership.
